Facebook is establishing a task force containing hundreds of people that will work together with political parties for the 2019 General Elections in India.
American online social media and Social Networking service company Facebook has said recently that the company is establishing a task force containing “hundreds of people” that will work together with political parties for the 2019 General Elections in India.
According to the social media giant, the task force will put efforts to control election-related abuse.
“With the 2019 elections coming, we are pulling together a group of specialists to work together with political parties,” Richard Allan, Vice President of Policy for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) stated.
He further said that “the challenge for the task force in India would be to distinguish between real political news and political propaganda.”
A study by Buzzfeed discovered that the top 20 Fake News stories about the 2016 United States presidential election received more engagement on Facebook than the top 20 election stories from 19 major media outlets.
