UK based start-up Vertical Aerospace has unveiled as well as tested the nation’s first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drone-style aircraft.
The 750-kg battery-powered aircraft model is tailored with four aerofoils and is able to transport between two and four commuters.
The aircraft further features a range of 150 km and a maximum speed of 300 kmph (200mph).
The Vertical Aerospace is the first company in the UK to test an eVTOL vehicle that could even be used in congested air corridors as it doesn’t require a runway.
According to a representative, the firm will work with regulators to win certification in the first stage of the air taxi project in 2022, the Times reported.
