Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister holding Law and Justice and electronics and Information technology portfolio in the Government of India met Google+ CEO Sundar Pichai at the company’s headquarters in California recently.
Mr. Prasad sought Google’s participation in ‘Digital Village‘ programme, which is primarily aiming at connecting villages with Wi-Fi and providing digital literacy to its residents.
Prasad also requested Google “to work for creating more awareness among India’s farmers about weather and scientific farming”.
Describing his visit to Google headquarters, Prasad tweeted “I felt so pleased to see many Indian professionals working at Google…including CEO Sundar Pichai and Ben Gomes, Vice President of Google Search.”
While Pichai was born in Tamil Nadu and graduated from IIT Kharagpur, Gomes was born in Tanzania and raised in Karnataka.
