People older than 65 years are more likely to share Fake News on online social media and Social Networking platform Facebook.
According to a latest study, people older than 65 years are more likely to share fake news on online social media and social networking platform Facebook.
A study steered by New York University and Princeton University has found that 65+ year old users are more likely to share fake news on Facebook.
The particular study conducted on about 3,500 participants across ages. It later examined the participants’ behaviour before and after the 2016 United States Presidential elections.
The study says it later checked the posts on participants’ timelines and then checked against a list of websites which historically shared fake news.
An analysis by BuzzFeed found that the top 20 fake news stories about the 2016 U.S. presidential election received more engagement on Facebook than the top 20 election stories from 19 major media outlets.
