Joel Kaplan who is the Vice President of Global Public Policy will represent Facebook and other company groups like WhatsApp and Instagram.
The government has warned the social media platforms over the upcoming elections that if any misuse or influence were attempted by undesirable means, strong actions would be taken.
As per invited by the committee, the senior officials of Facebook on March 6 will be a part of the Parliamentary panel.
The reason behind the meeting is to ensure the Security of the users on the Facebook platform as well as concerns related to misusing the social media platform for the upcoming elections.
According to sources, Joel Kaplan who is the Vice President of Global Public Policy will represent Facebook and other company groups like Whatsapp and Instagram.
Joel would be accompanied by Ajit Mohan (MD) and Ankhi Das (Director Public, Policy and Programs India).
The Parliamentary committee earlier met the officials of Twitter and had asked them to engage more of Election Commission of India ahead of elections. They were also asked for zero international interference.
Twitter had faced accusations over political bias on its platform and was represented by Colin Crowell, Global Vice President of Public Policy and rest.
