Virtual Milky Way

Spacecraft operations image of the week: This beautiful image of our Milky Way galaxy doesn’t come from any camera. It was derived from Gaia spacecraft pointing data, collected over 18 months and then combined to create a ‘map’ of observed star densities. credit: ESA
