Modi on Friday evening after Abhinandan’s release took to Twitter and wrote, “Welcome Home Wing Commander Abhinandan! The nation is proud of your exemplary courage.”
Modi also wrote, “our armed forces are an inspiration for 130 crore Indians. Vande Mataram!”
Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthman on Friday (1st of March) around 9PM crossed the border at Wagah-Attari to enter India.
According to initial reports, Abhinandan Varthaman was expected to arrive at Attari-Wagha border in Punjab around 5 pm on Tuesday, but the arrival time was postponed to 9 pm.
The ANI reports, “Pakistan has changed the timing of handover of IAF’s Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman twice. Indian defence minister is keeping a close watch on proceedings. The handover might now take place at 9 pm tonight.”
According to further sources, the delay is due to completion of formalities.
However, Pakistani officials handed over Wing Commander Varthaman to Indian officials at around 9 pm at the Attari-Wagah Border.
People across the nation were eagerly waiting for Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthman’s return to home land.
