The Copernicus EU Sentinel-2A satellite takes us over Yellowstone National Park, the First National Park in the United States, created on 1 March 1872 and declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. Yellowstone covers nearly 9000 sq. km and is part of three US states: Wyoming (96%), Montana (3%) and Idaho (1%). The whole park is a huge active volcano, one of the largest on Earth. It features over 10 000 thermal features including hot springs, fumaroles, mud pots, paint pots and more than 300 active geysers, two thirds of all those on the planet.
