The Times of India reports Sunita M Bhagwat, the Commissioner of Department of Tourism, has recently urged the head of Telangana State Tourism Department that all the heritage and tourist places controlled by the department should be declared as “tobacco free.”
Sunita M Bhagat has also reportedly appealed the Director of Heritage Telangana, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), and Commissioners of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in this regard.
According to reports, the authorities will be putting signs publicising that the premises is tobacco free, and use of tobacco in the specified premises is forbidden.
The authorities will also be alerting persons about the fine of Rs 200 to be incurred by anybody who breaks the law.
Tourist attractions in Telangana include historical places, monuments, forts, water falls, forests and temples.
