Former South African cricketer, and, a former Test and ODI (One-day International) captain Jacques Kallis was bestowed with Order of Ikhamanga in Silver award by the South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa on 25th of April.
What Made South Africa Choose Kallis For the Award?
Jacques Kallis honoured with Order of Ikhamanga in Silver award by the South African president for his contribution to cricket.
Mr. Kallis who played 166 Tests, 328 ODIs and 25 T20Is was honoured for his contribution to the sport.
Cricket South Africa Chief Executive said, “ it is highly fitting that Jacques should be honoured in this way with this prestigious award.”
The Order of Ikhamanga was instituted on 30 November 2003 and is granted for achievements in arts, culture, Literature, music, journalism, and sports.
The order has three classes:
- Gold for exceptional achievement,
- Silver for excellent achievement, and
- Bronze for outstanding achievement.
