As per the recent survey done by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Singapore has emerged as the World’s Most Expensive City with Zurich and Hong Kong jointly occupying the second spot.
Singapore has obtained the highest score of 116 while Zurich and Hong Kong managed 114 on the chart of cost of living. Tokyo and Shanghai occupies the next slots.
Paris remains the fifth most expensive city despite drastic measures in many Eurozone locations. The US dollar has reached 10-year high to push up the cost of living in the US cities. New York is now among the 10 most expensive global cities for the first time since 2002.
Five of the 10 cheapest cities are in India and Pakistan. The survey by EIU compared over 400 individual prices across 160 products.
