Shri Kiren Rijiju lauds BSF for taking the lead in pledging orga…

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju has lauded the Border Security Force (BSF) for motivating their personnel towards organ donation. Addressing a function here today, Shri Rijiju said the BSF personnel are not only ready to sacrifice their lives in the line of duty by valiantly guarding our frontiers, but now have scaled greater heights in life saving efforts by pledging organ donation.

Shri Rijiju mentioned that Director General BSF, Shri K K Sharma has led by example as he and his family have taken pledge as organ donors. He said the number of organ donor pledge takers from the BSF has risen sharply from 1,100 to more than 19,000 now. BSF is a trend setter and by BSF’s initiative, misconceptions about organ donation will be alleviated, he added.

Initiating today’s function, DG BSF Shri K K Sharma reiterated BSF’s commitment for shouldering social responsibilities of Nation Building. He said the BSF has organised today’s function in conjunction with NOTTO (National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation) ahead of the Organ Donation Day on 13th August.

BSF men besides dedicating their life for nation, are always eager to contribute for social cause. BSF has started many social drives like running skill development programmes for Divyang, recently signed MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for Skill Development for border Population, helping CRY (Child Rights and You), carrying drug de-addiction campaign, plantation drives for environment protection and the organ donation drives.
