Seen by ESA’s #Proba V on 9 February, a 500 km long chain of salt lakes stretches from Lake Hopkins to the Finke River amidst the central Australian desert. Two of those lakes, Lake Amadeus (east) and Lake Neale, shown here, are dry salt pans for most of the year. With over 1000 sq km of surface area, Lake Amadeus is the largest salt lake in the Northern Territories.
