Second National Conclave on Mines and Minerals to be held in the…

The
Ministry of Mines organized the First National Conclave on Mines & Minerals
on 4-5 July 2016 at Raipur jointly with the Govt. of Chhattisgarh. It was an
astounding success, owing to overwhelming support of all stakeholders of the
mining industry. All the participants expressed great satisfaction on the
organization and outcome of the conclave.

After
the first Conclave, several new initiatives have been taken by the Ministry of
Mines, such as – launch of Star Rating Scheme, Mining surveillance System,
scheme to attract private explorers, etc. The implementation of these
initiatives requires harmonization of understanding of the regulatory bodies
and the mining industry. This called for intensive and wide interaction between
all stakeholders.

The Prime Minister had launched ‘Make in India’ program
encompassing all vital areas in the manufacturing sector of the economy.
The
mining sector has a pivotal role to play in the ‘Make In India’ vision of the
Prime Minister. With the anticipated growth of the Indian economy in the years
to come, there will be a renewed thrust in Infrastructure and manufacturing
sectors, which would only be possible by way of ensuring timely supply of
minerals, which form their basic raw materials.

The
great success, and immense utility of 1st National Mining Conclave
on Mines & Minerals to gather solidarity in approach for addressing the
issues in the mining sector, the Ministry of Mines is organising 2nd
National Mining Conclave on Mines & Minerals in New Delhi in Convention
Hall, hotel The Ashok, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi  on 15th February, 2017. The 2nd
Conclave will provide an effective platform to enable intensive discussion
among various stakeholders viz. the representatives of central ministries,
state governments, mining industries, industry associations, financial &
academic institutions and others, on the issues, challenges and
opportunities in the mining sector
.

The
participation of industry leaders will greatly enhance the success and
effectiveness of the conclave. It will help the Central Government to further
improve the policy environment to promote best practices and addressing various
issues in the mining sector.

A National Conclave on Mines and Minerals in the country appears to be essential at this time, not
only to disseminate the various developments in the mining policies and
activities, but also to gather solidarity in approach for addressing the issues
in the mining sector.

The
conclave will have four technical sessions for interaction on the following key
topics-
