Salman’s last film, Bajrangi Bhaijaan collected Rs 27.25 Crore gross on the opening day and did Rs 320 Crore in its full run in India.
The Sooraj Barjatya-Salman Khan combination has worked for the film as the duo is back together after a gap of over 15 years. The film has drawn more family Audiences.
Despite the huge opening, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo failed to beat the record set by Shah Rukh Khan’s last release ‘Happy New Year’, which collected Rs 42.5 Crore on first day.
Surprisingly, with 10% more screens and 10% hike in ticket prices compared to ‘Happy New Year’, Salman could not beat Shah Rukh Khan.
