Naqsh Lyallpuri,Urdu poet,Lyricist who had worked with 132 music directors in his career died at age of 89 in Mumbai.
Renowned Urdu poet and lyricist Jaswant Rai Sharma, known to the world by his pen name Naqsh Lyallpuri, died here in Mumbai on Sunday.
He had been ailing for some time and breathed his last around 11.15 am at his Andheri home.Born in Llallpur in the part of Punjab now in Pakistan, Lyallpuri came to Mumbai in the late 1940s to make a career in Hindi cinema.
Though he got his first break in 1952 as a Song writer, real success eluded him till the early 1970s. He also worked with the postal department for some time to make ends meet during his early struggling days in Mumbai.
Over the years, he collaborated with some Top Film directors, music directors like Naushad, Shankar Jaikishan, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Bappi Lahiri, Jagjit Singh and many more and singers, penning soft melodies, romantic numbers and emotional Songs that touched the hearts of millions.
Some of his Best songs include: ‘Main to har modh par’, ‘Na Jane kya hua jo tune chhu liya’, ‘Ulfat me zamane ki har rasm ko thukroa’ and ‘Do deewane shaher mein’.
Tinaa Ghaai said-I lost my dad few years ago and now lost my dad in law,Sar se baap ka saaya hee uth gaya,in my case I was loved the most by my both the dads.Both of them were like demigods.Irreparable damage still in denial mode. I have recorded a song in a film which has lyrics by Naqsh ji and music by Bappi Lahiri which will be his last film.
