Pakistan is releasing captured Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman tomorrow (1st of March).
According to Tehreek-e-Insaf, “Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan announced that Pakistan will release captured Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman tomorrow as a peace gesture.”
The pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman, is a Wing Commander and a MiG-21 Bison pilot.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed on 27th of February that an Indian pilot is missing in action after a MiG-21 Bison fighter plane was lost while engaging with Pakistani jets after they violated Indian airspace.
Rachel E. VanLandingham of the Southwestern Law School stated that Pakistan violated Article 13 of the Geneva Conventions by posting a video of Abhinandan Varthaman on social media with a presumable intent to humiliate him and the state of India.
