The company has also notified about its collaboration with four global telecom operators- Swisscom, Optus, Telstra, and Sing Tel.
Director of Standards for Oppo, Henry Tang, announced that it would invest USD 1.5 billion in carrying out research and development with the aim of developing 5G as it exhibited on its building of next-generation smartphone.
According to Tasneem Arif, the head of Research and Development of Oppo opined that the company has decided to increase its workforce in India from 160 people to 500 people in the research and development field.
The company will be ready with its next-generation 5G smartphone by the second quarter of this year.
The company has also notified about its collaboration with four global telecom operators– Swisscom, Optus, Telstra, and Sing Tel.
Henry Tang has confirmed that the company had started off the field trials with several operators. Oppo has also collaborated with Qualcomm for development of 5G on its chipset.
