On this day 4 August 2006, just over 30 days after arriving at the International Space Station on board Space Shuttle #Discovery as a member of the STS-121 crew, ESA astronaut Thomas Reiter (DE) broke the previous record of 209 days, 12 hours and 25 minutes, which was held by his ESA colleague Jean-Pierre Haigneré.
