On this day: 27 May 2009, Soyuz TMA-15 is launched to the International Space Station, with ESA astronaut Frank De Winne and colleagues Roman Romanenko and Bob Thirsk. Thirsk became the first Canadian to fly on a Soyuz, and De Winne became the first European to command an ISS Expedition (Exp. 21).
