On this day: 27 January 1967, 50 years ago, the first international treaty on outer space was opened for signature by the US, UK and USSR. President Lyndon Johnson watches as US Secretary of State Dean Rusk signs the ‘Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies’, which then entered into force on 10 October 1967.
