An NRI couple, Ranjan and Chandrika Tandon has hit headlines by donating $100 million to the reputed New York University Polytechnic School of Engineering in Brooklyn, USA, established in 1854. NYU President John Sexton said that the contribution will be used for the financial aid and new programming.
Ranjan Tandon is an engineer and he founded a hedge fund in 1990. Chandrika Tandon joined the Board of New York University as a trustee in 2010.
Chandrika studied business at a management school in India and went on to establish an investment advisory firm in 1992 in partnership with leading corporate consulting firm McKinsey & Co.
Chandrika is also a musician. Her produced music album “Soul Call” was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2011.
In return gesture, the university has been renamed as NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
