The National Association for Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) chairman B.V.R. Mohan Reddy said that the IT industry will hire 2.75 lakh resources and the revenues will grow by $20 billion during this Financial Year. The earlier hiring projection of NASSCOM was 2.30 lakh.
Speaking to media after launching the Centre for healthcare entrepreneurship by Indian Institute of technology Hyderabad (IIT-H), he said that the Tech industry is projected to see $20 billion growth while the revenue was $16 billion during 2014-15, a growth of 12 to 13 percent.
He stated that the days of very large projects are over and the coming days will see more small projects. Reddy added that disturbances in some regions may show some impact in the long run though.
When questioned about the problems faced by the IT sector in Chennai due to incessant rains, he said that large companies took precautions well ahead of the rains by moving few physical assets and critical functions out of Chennai. However, many firms lost two days of functioning due to the unprecedented situation though.
