Motion Capture technology is quite popular across the world as many Hollywood blockbusters like ‘Avatar’, ‘Tintin’ etc used it.
In India, the Technology was introduced through superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kochadaiyyan’, which was released in Telugu as ‘Vikram Simha’. Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, the high budget film became a disaster and hence no one dared to use that technology again.
As per reports, ace filmmaker Shankar has decided to make ‘Robot 2’ using the same 3D Motion Capture Technology. With mammoth budget of Rs 250 crore, Shankar plans to shoot the entire film in 3D with a major portion of the film being shot in Motion Capture Technology.
‘Robo 2’ is being produced by LYCA International and it has roped in top technicians like AR Rahman, Srinivas Mohan, Muthuraj and Antony to handle Music, VFX, Art Direction and Editing respectively.
It has to be seen how Shankar used Motion Capture Technology as makers of ‘Kochadaiyyan’ miserably failed to do so.
