Shri Kiren Rijiju appreciated the zest and zeal of sportsmen of BSF. He lauded the Bordermen’s achievements in the sports world. BSF stands tall in the sports arena having bagged 2 Padma Awards, 1 Dronacharya, 17 Arjun Puraskar and two Adventure sports awards. Shri Rijiju said that games played with sports spirit inculcated self-discipline which is an added advantage to a soldier working in the forces.
In the final match, Dr. G S Nag, CVO BSF Acy T/Pur outsmarted Shri Vikram Dev Singh, 2IC, Ftr HQ Kashmir to lift the singles match winner trophy. In addition to the open singles trophies, open double, veteran single, veteran double and team event were also awarded.
Later Shri Rijiju inaugurated the Web page and Registration portal for the BSF Martyrs Day Half Marathon, which is to be conducted on October 22, 2017.
Director General, BSF Shri K K Sharma said that the Marathon will not only be a platform for players from world over to display their skill but will also give us opportunity to pay homage to our martyrs and pay gratitude to their family members.
