In November 2015, UNESCO proclaimed July 26 as the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem, thereby underlined the importance of the unique but vulnerable mangrove ecosystems around the world. Mangroves provide substantial benefits, by improving food Security, protecting against storms or shoreline erosion, providing habitats of rare wildlife species and sequestering and storing blue carbon important for mitigating climate change. To this occasion, PROBA-V visits the Can Gio mangrove forest and biosphere reserve in Vietnam. Get the full picture here:
