The World’s Tallest tower Burj Khalifa of Dubai will soon have to settle with second place as the neighboring SAudi Arabia has announced its plan to construct the world’s tallest tower.
A press release by Saudi government revealed that with the name Jeddah Tower, it will be built by Jeddah Economic firm and Saudi Arabia’s Alinma Investment. A financing deal of 8.4 billion Saudi riyals ($2.2 billion) to build this iconic tower was signed recently.
The 3,280-feet (1 kilometer) skyscraper will be completed by 2020 with 200 floors. The project is currently built up to the 26th floor.
The Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest building in the world with 2,723 feet height and 163 floors. After five long years of work, the tower was completed in 2009 in the main business district of Dubai.
Saudi government said that building Jeddah tower is a herculean task but they are adamant about it.
