The Indian Government had initiated amendments to the act in August, 2018.
The IT Act’s 69A Section at present permits the government to block public access to the websites and apps over such content violations.
Section 69A of the IT Act allows the Centre to block access to certain websites and computer resources in the interest of the defense of the nation, its sovereignty and integrity, and the Security of the country.
