National Award winning Marathi courtroom drama “Court”, India’s official entry in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the forthcoming 88th Academy Awards, is out of race now.
The official website of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences reported that the list has of entries has been narrowed down from 80 to 9 films. The nine chosen films will move ahead to the next round of voting and out of these nine, five films will be chosen to compete for the Oscar award.
The nine films that are vying in the Best Foreign Language film category include “The Brand New Testament” (Belgium), “Embrace of the Serpent” (Colombia), “A War” (Denmark), “The Fencer” (Finland), “Mustang” (France), “Labyrinth of Lies” (Germany), “Son of Saul” (Hungary), “Viva” (Ireland) and “Theeb” (Jordan).
The final list of 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced on January 14, 2016 and the award ceremony will take place on February 28, 2016, in Los Angeles.
