Indian weightlifter Jeremy Lalrinnunga has emerged as India’s first-ever gold medalist in the history of Youth Olympics.
The 15-year-old from Aizwal, Mozoram, accomplished the achievement by lifting a over-all weight of 274 kg in the men’s 62 kg group at the 2018 Youth Olympic games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He had earlier earned silver medal at Youth World Weightlifting Championships which was held last year in Bangkok, Thailand.
He also won silver medals in the World youth championship in Penang in 2016.
The original choice for Jeremy was not weightlifting. Jeremy during his early schooldays used to get attracted to boxing as his father was a former national boxing champion.
He later found curiosity in weightlifting and then started practicing.
