India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will participate in the Rafale fighter aircraft handing over ceremony on 8th of October at Merignac along with French Minister of Armed Forces Ms Florence Parly.
Indian Ministry of defence in a press release said Rajnath Singh will meet French President Emmanuel Macron on October 8th morning and later he will hold the Annual Defence dialogue with French Minister of Armed Forces Ms Florence Parly.
On October 9, Mr. Singh will address the CEOs of the French Defence Industry during which he is likely to urge them to participate in “Make In India” and the DefExpo to be held in Lucknow from February 5-8, 2020.
The rafale deal has been controversial from the beginning. It is a political controversy in India related to the purchase of 36 multirole fighter aircraft for a price estimated at €7.8 billion by the Defence Ministry of India from France’s Dassault Aviation.
The origin of the deal lies in the Indian MRCA competition, a multi-billion dollar contract to supply 126 multi-role combat aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF).
