Prime Minister Narendra Modi invested ₹176 crore over building the National War Memorial immediately after the National Police Memorial.

The Memorial was built in remembrance of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation after independence.

The names of 25,942 martyrs were engraved in stone forever. The essential facts to know about the Memorial is

1. The entry of the National War Memorial is a free complex. However, the main area and Param Yadhav Sthal have time restrictions.

2. The main construction is done in the form of four chakras denoting the different values of the armed forces.

3. The Pillar or Obelisk is 15.5 meters tall and is visible from even a distance after entering its premises.

4. The “Veerta Chakra” is surrounded by six murals showcasing different actions of battle. The murals weigh between 600 kg and 1000 kg.

5. The “Tyag Chakra” is surrounded by granite brick with the name of every soldier written on it.

6. Around 25,942 names of soldiers have been imprinted on the walls. Even there is some more space to add more names.

7. The Raksha Chakra is surrounded by the other three and has 600 trees that will represent the soldiers who protected the country.

8. The armed forces can celebrate their ceremonies over there. However, the public can pay homage through an interactive electronic panel that will be soon into functioning.

9. The Memorial, also, has artificial lighting and walking place.

10. Besides the main complex, a tribute is laid down to 21 Param Vir Chakra holders each one honored with bronze carving.
