Korean car maker Kia Motors Corporation on Tuesday commenced its trail production of SP2i sports utility vehicle (SVU) at its greenfield manufacturing facility in Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh, India.
The Anantapur manufacturing plant is the Kia’s 1st plant in India and 15th in the World
The company marked the start of its trial processes in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Shin Bongkil, Ambassador of Republic of Korea.
The event was also joined by Han-Woo Park, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kia Motors India and Kookhyun Shim, Managing Director (MD) and CEO of Kia Motors India.
When the final product is expected?
South Kora’s second largest manufacturer is planning to release its first car from the Anantapur plant in July, 2019.
Kia Motors, an affiliate of Hyundai Motors has decided to setup a greenfield facility in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh that is anticipated to cost US$1.1 billion.
The plant occupies 536 acres and will incorporate facilities for stamping, welding, painting and Assembly with annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles.
