French President Emmanuel Macron has recently said that the European Union can no longer solely rely on the United States of America for its security.

“The partner with whom Europe built the new post-World War order appears to be turning its back on this shared history,” Macron said referring to the United States.

Mr. Macron called for an evaluation of the security approach towards Europe’s partners.

Macron won the election on 7 May 2017 with 66.1% of the vote in the second round.

At age 39, Macron became the youngest President of France in history.
