Indian cricketer and the former captain of the Indian women’s national cricket team in Tests and One-day Internationals (ODIs) Mithali Raj became the first female player to last more than 20 years in international cricket.
Mithali Raj achieved the feat while leading India to an emphatic eight-wicket win over South Africa Women in the first ODI at Vadodara on October 9.
The right-handed batswoman made her ODI debut against Ireland on June 26, 1999.
Raj has played 204 ODIs till now, the most by a female. She has also played 10 Tests and 89 T20 Internationals for India.
Raj is the only player to have captained India in more than one ICC ODI World Cup final, doing so twice in 2005 and 2017.
On 1 February 2019, during India’s series against New Zealand Women, she became the first woman to play in 200 ODI matches.
