Facebook Inc chief Mark Zuckerberg on Wednesday launched a mobile phone application that gives Colombian users free access to a modest bunch of online services.
An idea beyond this effort is to bring developing markets online.
Colombia is the First Country in Latin America to get the new internet.org service, in association with domestic cell telephone supplier Tigo. However, the aim is to push the application across the region.
“By giving individuals these fundamental tools free of charge, you’re making an equivalent playing field,” Zuckerberg said.
