The SC will decide on Friday whether to refer the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute, pending for over 60 years, for mediation.
For the same, a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi had reserved the verdict referring the issue for an in-camera, court-monitored mediation process on March 6th.
The bench includes Justices SA Bobde, DY Chandrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S Abdul Nazeer, had also marked that it has no control over what Mughals did. They are only concerned with resolving the present scenario.

According to the top court, it thinks that the issue is not about 1,500 square feet land, but about religious sentiments. Also, it laid stressed that it is conscious of the impact of the issue on “public sentiment” and on “body politic.”
