We must confront climate change now as it hits the poor the hardest. In fact, without good, climate-informed development, climate change could force more than 100 million people into extreme poverty by 2030.
Bangladesh is among the countries most at risk from the impacts of climate change. But the country has considerably improved defensive measures, including early warning systems and Cyclone shelters. It was great to meet students today at a multipurpose disaster shelter that also serve as primary school.
The World Bank Group will pledge $2 billion over the next three years in new funding to help the country become less vulnerable to climate change. http://wrld.bg/ieV0305iobB
