After Indian giant mobile makers Micromax, Karbonn and Chinese mobile manufacturer Xiaomi, now OnePlus, another Chinese Smartphone maker is all set to manufacture its handsets in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
OnePlus Founder and CEO Pete Lau announced that the company has entered into partnership with Foxconn to manufacture OnePlus smartphones at the Rising Stars firm in Sri City.
He added that 5 lakh handsets will be manufactured per month and the first batch of smartphones will hit the market by the end of 2015. OnePlus sees India as one of their biggest markets and has zeroed in AP as a potential manufacturing hub.
OnePlus has become quite popular in India with its flagship phones like OnePlus One and OnePlus Two selling like hot cakes. The firm has now started gradually shifting from invite-only basis to open-sales mode.
Main advantages of the manufacturing in India is, sharp fall in prices and employment opportunities for thousands of workers.
