Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has today (11th of December) announced flood relief to the victims.
Rs.10,000, 10 kg of rice, a sari and a dhoti will be given to those who lost their huts. For those who live in permanent houses and were affected in the floods, Rs.5,000, 10 kg of rice, a sari and a dhoti would be supplied.
10,000 permanent houses will be allotted for those who lost their huts. Those who lost their livestock, are compensated with Rs.10,000 (for loss of cows and buffaloes), Rs.3,000 (for goats and pigs) and Rs.100 (for chicken).
Jayalalithaa ordered compensations for farmers too. A payment of Rs.13,500 per hectare would be given if 33 percent and above paddy crops were lost and payment of Rs.18,000 per hectare for long term crops.
Special camps for two weeks from December 14 will be held to issue duplicate land deeds, educational certificates, cooking gas connection cards, voter identity cards, Aadhar cards, bank passbooks etc, all free of cost.
However, the big question is, does her compensation truly justify the utter disgraceful disaster management of the TN govt.??
