CCI Slams Hyundai With 87 Cr Fine | Unfair business Practices | Anti-competitive Practices
Competition Commission of India (CCI) has imposed a penalty of Rs. 87 crore on Hyundai Motor India for their unfair business practices with subject to offering discounts for cars.
The CCI in its order asked Hyundai Motor India to cease and discontinue from such anti-competitive practices.
The CCI also said, the company’s anti-competitive behaviour consist of putting in place arrangements that caused in resale price maintenance by way of monitoring of maximum allowable rebate level.
It further stated, this was done through discount control and penalty mechanisms for non-compliance of the discount scheme.
The CCI said Hyundai Motor India breached Competition Law through activities which resulted into resale price maintenance and by directing its dealers to use recommended lubricants and oils.
