Supermarket industry leaders in the UK appear to be loosing not only in a price war, also in a quality.
According to the latest survey, German discount chains Aldi and Lidl beat the greater part of Britain’s markets when it came to taste test.
The well known budget chains claimed each 13 gold awards in the yearly Own Label food & Drink Awards survey did by The Grocer magazine.
The discoveries indicate the perspective that low costs don’t essentially mean giving up quality as well as flavor.
As findings say, both Aldi and Lidl have created higher quality ranges and focused on own labels to beat the best in the industry.
Aldi champs included Specially Selected vine tomato and lentil soup.
Among the items asserting gold for Lidl were Deluxe Red Leicester with green chilli and red peppers.
Iceland, an Britain’s own budget retailer, claimed two gold awards; one for its ultra-thin meat feast pizza, and another for its duck spring rolls.
Another big player Morrisons claimed only one gold award.
Surprisingly there was nothing at all for Sainsbury’s which holds nearly 16.5 per cent market share.
The survey findings make understand that the quality and price should be played a major part in beating the consumer demand.
