Soon after receiving permission from the National Company Law Tribunal, Aditya Birla Group announced on 31st of August that Vodafone India and Idea Cellular have successfully completed the merger to replace Airtel as India’s largest telecom company.
The joint unit brags of 408 million active subscribers with a 32.2% revenue market share.
Vodafone and Idea will remain to function independently post the merger.
Vodafone owns and operates networks in 25 countries, and has partner networks in 47 more countries,
Its Vodafone Global Enterprise division provides telecommunications and IT services to corporate clients in 150 countries.
