Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on 9th November has laid the foundation stone for a Urdu university in Urvakallu, Kurnool district. The university will come up in 125 acres of land at an estimated budget of Rs 20 Crore.
Speaking at the occasion, Chandrababu said that TDP government has taken this revolutionary step of setting up the institution for the development of the Urdu language. He called Urdu as the second official language of the state.
He added that the Urdu university would help for the educational development of minority students and create employment opportunities for them. He ensured that his government would work for the welfare and development of Minorities equally with other communities.
He recalled his role in setting up the Moulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad when he was the Chief Minister of united AP. Kurnool district in Rayalseema region has the highest percentage of Muslims in the state.
The chief minister said that an education hub would be established in 900 acres in Kurnool and it will be the third educational hub in the state along with Visakhapatnam and Amaravati.
