The newly formed Andhra Pradesh state has achieved a rare feat by emerging as the first and only state in the country to distribute 1 Crore LED bulbs. AP has also set the world record by distributing highest number of LEB bulbs in a year.
AP Government has so far distributed 1 crore LED bulbs as part of the Demand Side management based Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP). Out of the 3.15 crore LED Bulbs distributed all over India, AP only has distributed 1 Crore. This data clearly explains the efforts of energy Department in AP.
In AP, Guntur district leads the pack with 18.67 lakhs LED bulbs while East Godavari records lowest distribution with just 2.43 lakhs. On the other hand, distribution of LED bulbs in Kadapa and Nellore districts is still to be launched.
Union Minister for Power Piyush Goyal has congratulated AP State Government for this achievement. AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has also praised Energy Department for making the energy efficiency programme a huge success
