This morning’s launch of NOAA’s newest weather satellite, the Joint Polar Satellite System-1, or JPSS-1, was scrubbed due to upper level winds. Launch teams are continuing to assess when the next launch attempt will be. Updates are available at https://blogs.nasa.gov/jpss/
JPSS-1 is part of the next generation of polar-orbiting satellites designed to enhance forecasters’ ability to predict severe weather and monitor a wide variety of critical Environmental Factors.
