Business Confidence Index (BCI) in India: Business confidence falls sharply in India

A survey by the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER) says business confidence in India has fallen sharply in Q4 of FY15 due to concerns over investment climate.

According to the survey, the NCAER’s business confidence index (BCI) in the current quarter has fallen 6.9 percent from levels seen in the past quarter.

The decay has been virtually in all cases with the services sector showing the biggest fall of 13.6 percent.

All components of BCI declined in between January and April, NCAER said.

The study further said that pattern of a persistent rise in the Political Confidence Index (PCI) was turned around in April when PCI fell 8.9 per cent over the last quarter.

National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) is a non-profit policy think tank. It was established in 1956 with financial support from the Ford Foundation, finance Ministry and Tata Sons.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru laid the foundation stone of NCAER campus on October 31, 1959.
