Half-shell heroes: Rocket fairings protect satellites from the thermal, acoustic and aerodynamic stresses of launch to space. Europe’s fairings are now lighter, faster to produce and less costly thanks to a manufacturing process adopted by RUAG Space in Switzerland through a partnership with ESA.
