The Copernicus EU Sentinel-2A satellite takes us over Alessandria, in the region…

The Copernicus EU Sentinel-2A satellite takes us over Alessandria, in the region of Piedmont, Italy, captured on 5 August. The city is located on the alluvial Po valley, between the Tanaro and the Bormida rivers, which snake across the image. The big fortress shaped as a six-pointed star at the north-west of the city is called the Cittadella (‘citadel’). The construction and state of conservation of Napoleonic buildings are unique, and therefore the Cittadella was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 1 June 2006.
