According to the latest data, consumer prices in the UK were flat in March compared with a year before.
According to the latest statistical information, inflation, as measured by the consumer prices index (CPI) registered a 0% rate in March, unaltered from February.
As understood the statistical data of Office for National Statistics (ONS), the weakness of inflation reflected a year-on-year fall in prices for fuels, food and apparel.
Measured to two decimal spots, annual inflation in March was marginally negative (at -0.01%). Consumer price inflation was last lower in March 1960, as indicated by ONS.
However, the decrease in prices comes as the country’s political parties head into the last couple of weeks of campaigning before national elections on May 7.
